The Museum opens six days a week (on public holidays as well) and is closed on Wednesdays. The ticket counter closes 1 hour before the office closes.
It is a known fact that the Science Museum can have very important impacts on science literacy in a country like Nepal imbued with taboos, superstition, and fatalistic attitudes. So, B.P. Koirala Memorial Planetarium, Observatory, and Science Museum Development Board was constituted by the Government of Nepal, under the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology, in order to disseminate scientific temper and culture to the broad mass of the people.
