> Organizing various schools, seminars and talk programs at regional, national and international levels routinely in several  parts of the country.

> Conducting research activities in the field of astronomy, astrophysics and space science at National Observatory.

> Publishing Journals, Magazines and Bulletins routinely for the last two decades.

  Late Right Honourable PM, Sushil Koirala inaugurated the recently built BP Koirala National Science Museum on September 19, 2014 on the occasion of National Science Day.

Inauguration ceremony of Science Museum
  Honourable Minister, Giriraj Mani Pokhrel, Ministry of Science, Education and Technology inaugurated the B.P. Koirala Memorial Science Museum on May 11, 2019 and since then, it has been opened for general public. The inauguration ceremony was hosted by a humanoid robot “Ful Maya”.

2012 Workshop and Training on Science Journalism Science Writing, June 14-20, 2012, Kathmandu
  In order to enhance the coordination among the scientists and the journalists so that the achievements and discoveries made in the sector of science and technology could be efficiently disseminated among the general mass of people to develop scientific culture and temper among them, B.P. Koirala Memorial Planetarium Observatory and Science Museum Development Board organized a 7 days Workshop cum Training on “Science Journalism/Science Writing”. More than 110 participants including news reporters, journalists and students of journalism from different parts of the country took part in the workshop cum training. The workshop discussed on the topics such as Science Communication: concept, challenges and emerging paradigms, Disseminating Scientific knowledge to the people: role of visuals and scientoons; Techniques of Science Writing/ journalism; especially focusing on science news and feature writing; With newspapers how to develop science feature; Improving accountability, ethical and professional standards on science journalism; Capacity building of media professionals in science journalism; T.V., radio script writing; How to develop a science program for radio, T.V.; Web-based science communication and networks; Role of media on dissemination S&T and impact of dissemination in the society; Organizing press meet/event, how to write a press release; Science popularization through folk: puppetry as tool; How to bridge the gap between science and media in the public understanding of science: infrastructural systems; How to plan and make a scientoon as a series of scientoons; Policy approach for S&T dissemination and interministerial coordination on the promotion of science journalism; Data mining, how to access sources for science information; Science journalism in Nepal: problem and prospects; International scenario of science communication: Careers and Opportunities for young science   writers/ journalists/ communicators. Dr. S.K. Sharma (Co-executive director, B.P.K.M.P.O.S.M.D.B), Prof. Dr. Uday Raj Khanal (Central Department of Physics, T.U.), Prof. Prabal Raj Pokhrel (Chief, Ratanarajya Campus, Department of Journalism), and other experts from India: Dr. Manoj Kumar Patairiya (Director, Department of Science of Technology, GOI), Pradip Kumar Shrivastav (Senior Scientist, Central Drug Research Institute, Lucknow ), V.P. Singh (Co-ordinator Indian Science Communication Society), L.D. Kala (Asso. Director, Indian journal of science communication) and Tarik Badar (secretary, Indian Science Writers Association) were present as the resource person in the workshop cum training program.         जनकपुर, फागुन १७-१९, २०६८। वी.पी. कोईराला मेमोरियल प्लानेटेरियम तथा अब्जरभेटरी र विज्ञान सङ्ग्रहालय विकास समितिद्वारा रामस्वरूप रामसागर बहुमुखी क्याम्पस, जनकपुरधाम, धनुषामा खगोल विज्ञान, खगोल भौतिक विज्ञान तथा अन्तरिक्ष विज्ञान विषयक ३ दिवसीय क्षेत्रीय स्तरको स्कुल आयोजना गरिएको थियो। उक्त स्कुलमा उ.मा.वि. तथा स्नातक तहका शिक्षक एवम् विद्यार्थीहरू समेत कुल १५५ जनाको सहभागिता रहेको थियो। उक्त स्कुलको श्रोत विशेषज्ञहरूका रुपमा प्रा.डा. उदयराज खनाल, डा. सनत कुमार शर्मा र सरोज राज शाही रहनुभएको थियो। सो स्कुलको प्रमुख अतिथिको रुपमा वी.पी. कोईराला मेमोरियल प्लानेटेरियम तथा अब्जरभेटरी र विज्ञान सङ्ग्रहालय विकास समितिका सह-कार्यकारी निर्देशक डा. सनत कुमार शर्मा रहनु भएको थियो।

  B.P. Koirala Memorial Planetarium Observatory and Science Museum Development Board organized a 10 days school on “Application of Space Science”. More than 120 participants including students form plus two and bachelor’s levels, their respective teachers and the experts of Space Science were present in the school. The school conducted theoretical and practical classes on subjects like Stellar Evolution; Early universe and inflation; Astro-particle physics; Large scale structures and their evolution; Astrophysical plasma; Solar system, Interstellar and intergalactic medium; Observational tools and techniques; Study of the earth (surface, hydro, climate); Geology, meteorology and hydrology; Resource management, forestry, mines, agriculture, water; Natural hazard prediction and mitigation; Glacier lake outburst, earthquake, flood, landslide, forest-fire; Space technology; Space environment and its effect on materials, rockets; Satellite and space missions; Application of Satellites in telecommunication and broadcasting.
